The South West coast of Sri Lanka has great waves from November to March and there is a barrelling surf break round every nook and bay for beginners and experts alike. Particularly recommended nearby are Kabalana Beach and Weligama Bay where you can learn to surf or perfect your talent in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Thirteen species of whales migrate each year through the the Southern waters of Sri Lanka, including blue whales, sperm whales, humpback whales and killer whales. A half day trip from nearby Mirissa is a wonderful way to get up, close and personal with these magnificent creatures.
